A World ‘first’ for LED lighting: The Penguins have “happy feet” in Konstanz!

Low Energy Designs has developed a system which is a “world first” for LED lighting.  The system controlling the lights replicates the daily solar and lunar cycles of the natural habitat of the special breed of Gentoo Penguin.

This software is truly unique.

Merlin Sea Life Centre in Konstanz requested  Low Energy Designs to develop a system to replicate the natural environment for their special breed of Gentoo Penguin.

Designed in house this system is a World ‘first’ for LED as it replicates the sun and moon throughout each individual day of a calendar month, for an entire year.

This is so specific that it ensures the Penguins experience the various seasons and lunar cycles of their natural habitat which is essential to the well-being of this special breed of Penguin.  The lights are controlled individually to replicate the gradual dawn to dusk changes so the Penguins awaken to the natural colours of the sunrise with a cascade of colour through to sunset.

Results:  Happy Penguins who feel at home in their environment.
