NTI high school lowers energy costs and increases student productivity
PROJECT: Provide students with a better study environment and save energy
AcadeMedia, which owns and operates NTI high school is investing in LED lighting to help provide students with a better study environment, whilst saving maximum energy. AcadeMedia, has previously installed our smart LED lighting solutions in several other schools.
Our Sky Panel 66 was installed in the reading rooms and offices, providing a daylight white light (5300 Kelvin, the same level of sunlight on a sunny day) with the possibility of dimming. This luminaire is energy efficient with an efficiency factor of over 120 lumens per watt. It gives a luminous flux of 4650 lumens and is dimmable via DALI or 10VDC.
The Sky Panels are controlled by a presence detector in all rooms, so teachers and students receive light on arrival – illumination control that is extremely easy to handle. In the reading rooms, an extra smart attendance sensor is used so that the lights turn off after a short time if motion is undetected. This means that, for example, if you walk into a reading room after something you forget and jump back out, the light goes out shortly afterwards which saves the school maximum energy.
In corridors, assembly areas and toilets an energy efficient smart downlight has been installed. The Glow 165 CTC is an extremely efficient luminaire, it is easy to install, can be dimmed and has the ability to change colour temperature. This means that you can change from daylight white to warm white in the evenings.
The results compared to the previous lighting:
– > 70% lower installed power
– > 70% lower carbon dioxide emissions
– Visibility has improved since the daylight white light makes colours and movements more easily perceived by the eye.
– The number of luminaires and total installed power is minimised.
