Trial of LED lighting in
Tralee, Ireland
Tralee Council have taken the active lead
in making a difference by
reducing power usage by installing a combination of LED street and
flood lights into the prestigious Tralee Square and Abbey Court.
The aim is to reduce the power consumption by 67% and
save 8,541kg of CO2
per year on the square alone
Initial results are showing a 55% saving without comparing all of the
existing light with the new lights as they were on a separate circuit.
The CCTV footage of the square before and after were examined by the
Gardi to ensure that the light was increased to help identify and
enhance the CCTV performance.

Low Energy Designs wins contract to
replace all security lighting systems for Celtel (Zain) in Africa
LED UK is to replace and upgrade over 2,500 cellular sites for Celtel (Zain)
in Nigeria & Ghana. The 2 x 350watt Halogen lights will be
replaced by the SunFIRE LED 60watt light. The light will run
directly from the 48Vdc power supply provided by the batteries on site.
This method will reduce the overall power consumption from lighting on
the site by over 80%.

Low Energy Designs wins contract to
deploy the SunFIRE street lighting into Lagos Nigeria
After conducting trials and competing against 30 other LED light
manufacturers in Ado Ekiti State, PNN Nigeria is awarded the contract
with LED UK to supply its SunFIRE LED light with power saving features
into one of the busiest streets in Lagos. Within the next 6 weeks
over 400 lights will now be deployed in conjunction with the power
bunker. This will save the Lagos State Government over 60% but
more like 80% compared with the current sodium lighting solution.
The SunFIRE lights are fully approved by SONCAP and are ready for
importation. This system will also be deployed with the remote
monitoring and control system, this will enable LED Nigeria to offer the
Lagos State Government the opportunity to 100% customise the lighting to
suit their requirement by dimming or switching off the lights at any
given time to save further power. This solution is perfect
for solar powered LED lights as the lights can be customised to suit the
lighting requirement and solar panel/battery size to avoid failure
(which is common place)

Low Energy Designs Nigeria or directly through Low Energy Designs Ltd.

Low Energy Designs provides DC Power
systems to Celtel for mobile GSM solutions & MTN GSM Cell sites in Nigeria
CobraComms part of the Low Energy Designs Group provides
the 24 and 48Vdc automated and remote power solutions for Celtel (Zain)
in Nigeria for the GSM trailers. Previously the system used
constant power provided by the large onboard AC generators which needed
servicing every 8 days and refuelling the 500 litre fuel tank every 4 to
5 days. Now the COWs (Cell on Wheels) only need refuelling every
15 - 20 days and servicing every 2 months a massive saving on
Operational Expenditure. The same systems are also destined for
the Celtel and MTN static sites to reduce dramatically reduce the OPEX
costs by more than 60%.
