THE ORIGIN OF LOW ENERGY DESIGNS
Low Energy Designs Ltd was founded and began trading in 2007. The company was originally formed by the directors of Cobracomms Ltd and Barnett Engineering Ltd. These two engineering firms had collaborated for years, providing mobile telecommunication and power solutions to developing cellular markets worldwide.
During early 2006, a prominent global organization approached us with a challenge to find a solution for their perimeter security lighting issues at communication sites, requiring a unique power source. The new lighting system needed to prioritise robustness, efficiency, longevity, and intensity. After thorough research into suitable light source alternatives, we discovered that LED technology offered the best combination of these essential factors for future emerging technology. Unfortunately, at that time, there were only a few poorly engineered LED products available in the market, lacking in design, robustness, thermal dynamics, heat dissipation, electronic circuit quality, power, optical distribution, and light output.
To address these issues, we decided to design our own LED product from scratch, one that would overcome all the technical challenges we had encountered. After extensive research and development, our team produced an engineered LED light solution that successfully resolved all the issues. We conducted independent trials and an initial trial with the end client, during which our lights exceeded the customer's expectations in performance. Consequently, the client placed orders for over 10,000 units to deploy at all their sites. This marked the world's first rollout of high-powered LED lights, a significant achievement considering that major lighting companies were investing in other technologies, doubting the future potential of LED lighting.
The remarkable results and efforts of our R&D team also resulted in the company securing several patents on LED technology, particularly focusing on thermal LED management and control.
Since LED lighting was not the core business of either company, Low Energy Designs Ltd was duly created and registered in late 2007. The company quickly grew to employ dedicated staff on full time basis supplemented by access to the engineering resources of the parent companies and the rest as they say is history….
Today, Low Energy Designs Ltd has a multi million pound annual turnover, a string of prestigious clients and products on every continent, including Antarctica. It remains loyal to the founding concepts of its first product.
