Project: To improve study environments by installing LED lighting

The Brief -

Juringe School is an independent primary school run by Pysslingen schools (part of AcadeMedia) and is located in Segeltorp, south of Stockholm. The school decided they would replace part of their existing lighting for a better alternative. Juringe School choose to replace the lighting in the sports hall and the adjacent dining room with LED.

The floor of the sports hall is extremely delicate, which means that every change of fluorescent lamps is difficult and results in a high cost. Juringe School wanted a future-proof lighting solution with requirements such as energy saving, long life and high quality luminaires. It was also important to raise light levels in line with general standards.

The Solution -

The LumiOPTIMA 5218 was the most practical option to replace the existing fluorescent lighting in the sports hall. This Smart LED luminaire has a large luminous flux of over 26,000 lumens and built-in combined light and motion sensor. With an energy efficiency of over 150 lumen / watt, it's a true light machine. A daylight white variant with 5300 Kelvin colour temperature was chosen to increase the visibility in the room. This daylight white light also seems invigorating and increases the concentration of those using the premises.

The luminaires feature a so-called micro prism lens that minimises glare, but provides significantly better light output than traditional fluorescent luminaires. This means a very smooth illumination with marginal shadows and better conditions for athletes. The luminaires were also equipped with a wire guard which protects them from sports equipment strikes. The ball guard is a powerful steel mesh that protects the luminaire at a direct ball.

The choice of new lighting in the dining room fell on our GloW 225 CTC, which is extremely energy efficient. The luminaire is light in weight and can be mounted directly in the ceiling tiles. This luminaire can also change the colour temperature between 3000-5700 Kelvin, that is, from warm white to daylight white, with wireless or DALI control, which is controlled via a simple hand held controller. The advantage of this solution is that you can easily dim the light output or change the colour from a warm white to a bright daylight white depending on the activity.
