Project: To install day white LED lighting into the classroom

The Brief -

Vackstanäsgymnasiet recently invested in our intelligent LED lighting in their school gym. So pleased with the product and the daylight white light that it provides they now want to switch to LED lighting in one of their classrooms.

The classroom chosen for this install is located on the ground floor where the need for better lighting was greater than in other classrooms. It was also important to raise the average illuminance to 500 lux in the classroom in order to offer the best possible learning environment. The old lighting meant that the average illuminance in the room was under 500 lux and the new lighting solution was designed to provide >500 lux average illuminance.

The Solution -

The Sky Panel 66 was chosen to replace the existing lighting. The Sky Panel 66 is thin panel LED light with a power efficiency factor of 107 lumens per watt. This intelligent panel provides a luminous flux of 3700 lumens and is fully dimmable from 0-100%, via DALI or 10VDC. For this installation Vackstanäsgymnasiet chose to use a simple rotary dimmer in the classroom.

The high light output means that we can reduce the number of luminaires that were there before. The Sky Panel 66 provides a soft and comfortable light with a unified glare rating (UGR) lower than 19. The panel is only 12 millimetres thick and can be installed with minimal space between the roof and the ceiling, but it can also be suspended with loops integrated in the luminaire.

The new lighting has received very positive feedback from students and teachers at the school.
