The Brief -

The Swedish Transport Administration, Trafikverket, evaluate new and environmentally friendly technologies all the time. They have one clear goal. To save energy and maintenance costs, without compromising on safety.

The Swedish Transport Administration chose to test our LED products on an intersection outside of Stockholm. In this intersection was an installation consisting of 3 High-Pressure Sodium fixtures running at 250W each, installed at approx. 20m above sea level.

The Solution -

They replaced these with 3 of our SunBURST 8 LED which run at 88 Watts each @ max. Measurements and Visual assessment showed that at full power the SunBURST’s light levels were considerably better than with the previous Sodium fixtures. It was then decided to save even more energy, by optimising the effect until the light was on par with, or only a little better than before. Thanks to the built-in wireless control there is the possibility of continuously changing the output power of the SunBURST. The Swedish Transport Administration optimized the SunBURST and reduced the power consumption from 88W down to 55W each, which still gave a better light output then the previous Sodium fixtures.

SunBURST has been replaced by the SunSHINE range.
