Project: To upgrade the tennis hall lighting to LED.

The Brief -

After changing the lighting in the main gym hall to LED, the staff at Downton Leisure Centre were keen to change the lighting in the tennis hall. The tennis hall consists of two courts with 64x Twin 6ft FL surface mounted to an apex roof, each running at 220 watts! The roof also consists of large skylights allowing daylight to come through. Due to this Downton only required the minimum light levels according to EN 12193:2007.

The Solution -

Glare was a big factor that we had to take into consideration when installing our LED lighting as it has a huge impact on the playing experience. We installed 32 x SportsOPTIMA 5218, using a glare free diffuser as well as suspending the SportsOPTIMA by chains will help to minimise the risk of any glare. Thanks to the effective and efficient SportsOPTIMA Downton had a light increase of 36% compared to the existing lighting.
