Project: To reduce costs by switching to LED lighting in the sports hall.

The Brief -

South Devon College is a large sized further education college that provides a wide variety of courses on one of its 9 different campuses within Torbay and the surrounding area. South Devon College aims to become a leader in sustainability and good environmental practice whilst ensuring value for money.

South Devon College were spending £3,471.04 each year to power and maintain the lights in their sports hall. They wanted to reduce the costs they were spending throughout the school, so we started in the sports hall where they would be able to achieve the highest savings with the shortest pay back.

Quad T5’s were what lit South Devon’s sports hall. Running at 250w per fixture with a total of 40 fixtures. These lights were costing approx. £205.00 to run a month!

The Solution -

We replaced 40 Quad T5’s with 20 of our SunRAY 8 ULTRA’s. The SunRAY 8 ULTRA is extremely efficient running at 145w at max power, providing 17106 lumens. A variant with daylight 5300 Kelvin colour temperature was chosen in order to increase the visibility inside the hall. This daylight white light is also invigorating and increases the concentration of users in the hall.

It’s unique design allows the customer to manually adjust the light modules on site, maximising the light output and providing light where required. The SunRAY 8 ULTRA will only cost £31.28 to run a month!
