Project: To reduce operational costs in the chilled warehouse
The Brief -
Kerry Group is a leading producer of chilled consumer food products in Irish and UK markets. Kerry Foods brands are household names including category leading brands such as Wall's, Mattessons, Richmond, Denny, Galtee, Roscrea, Shaws, Ballyfree, Dawn, Cheestrings, Charleville, Mitchelstown, Low Low and Dairygold to name but a few.
Kerry Groups management team, at it’s National Distribution Centre have a keen focus on energy saving measures and on reducing their operational costs in their chilled warehouse facility. They decided to implement a swap/replace programme for the existing 400W metal halide High Bay fittings throughout the chilled warehouse. These fittings were mounted at a height of 10 metres along the aisles and at 3.5m near the loading bays and sandwich picking areas.
The Solution -
Our SunRAY 10, 110W modular LED fitting was chosen to replace the original metal halide fittings. They have been installed and mounted in the same locations and at the same height yet provide increased lux levels and better colour quality of lighting in the aisles, loading bays and sandwich picking areas.
The lighting solution was implemented with passive infrared (PIR) motion detectors located at each end of the aisles and at some other entry/exit points in the facility for maximum strategic positioning. This means that during low traffic periods in the facility, the lights in certain areas would switch off or dim down, only to switch back on when the PIR motion sensor would be triggered by someone entering the area.
Since the installation of the SunRAY 10 LED fittings the power consumption bill has been reduced by approx. €2,000 per month.
