Unique lens for Tennis Courts

Following on from our Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) complaint lighting solution designed back in 2015, we have developed a unique lens specifically designed for indoor and outdoor tennis. Compatible with the SunSHINE and LumiMOD.

Made using optical grade PMMA the FS lens is a rectangular LED lens designed specifically for indoor and outdoor tennis courts.

Designed to be unobtrusive, the FS lens pushes over 95% of the light forward and directs it downwards to minimise any light spillage behind or above the position of the light. This helps to keep the surrounding neighbours happy and keeps our products in line with the Dark-sky policy which encourages the use of full-cut off fixtures that cast little or no light upward in public areas to reduce light pollution.

Mounting and location is paramount to sports applications. We’ve designed the FS lens so the LED light can be installed perpendicular to the ground which has massive benefits in sports applications such as clear and uniform illuminance and glare control.

The FS lens offers high UV and temperature resistance and also has an impact resistance of IK10 (the equivalent to the impact of a 5kg mass dropped from 400mm above the impacted surface) which will protect the LEDs from any unexpected ball strikes.

Outdoor sports lighting provides an important way of extending the use and the overall value of outdoor sports facilities. Floodlighting outdoor sports areas can provide extended hours of play after dark, since winter days in England can provide as little as 7 hours of natural light. By installing outdoor LED sports lighting, this can allow people to train or play evening matches 7 days a week, all year round.

Indoor and outdoor sports areas should be lit so that those taking part and those watching, whether at the event or on television, can see clearly all that is going on. This calls for suitable brightness and contrast over the playing area, sufficient light at all points, correct distribution and adequate control of glare. Our LED lighting products can provide all of this using minimum power whilst achieving maximum savings.
