Project: To improve working environment in the woodwork classroom

The Brief -

South Devon College wanted to reduce operational costs, one way they chose to do that was to replace their lighting with more energy efficient lighting. The original lighting consisted of 58 Fluorescent Twin T5’s which were running at 160w each. Low Energy Designs came up with a few different options for their Woodwork area but the one that presented the most savings in energy and CO2 was our SunRAY 6 ULTRA.

The Solution -

The SunRAY 6 ULTRA runs at 110w on full power, we reduced this down to 100w because the light levels provided by running the product at this power were effective for this area. The SunRAY 6 ULTRA’s lumen output of 12192lm meant that we didn’t have to change a light for a light. Instead we took out 58 Fluorescent Twin T5’s and installed 24 SunRAY 6 ULTRA’s.

SunRAY ULTRA has been replaced by the LumiOPTIMA and LumiMOD.
