Project: To switch the lighting to LED

The Brief -

Constantia Flexibles is one of the world's leading manufacturers of flexible packaging and labels. The group supplies its products to numerous multinational corporations and local market leaders in the food, pet food, pharmaceuticals and beverage industries.

Since 2005 Constantia Flexibles have been measuring their direct and indirect emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. By 2012 Constantia Flexibles were already halfway to their goal of a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2023.

Constantia decided to switch the lighting in their production area to energy efficient LED lighting. The old lighting consisted of 84 x Son T's which were running at 250 watts each. These Son T's were generating over 110 tons of CO2 a year.

The Solution -

Due to the sensitive work Constantia Flexibles carry out we designed a bespoke LED light fitting to meet their specific requirements.

We designed and manufactured 84 x bespoke LED saucer lights that had to be retrofitted into the existing housing in the ceiling. This bespoke luminaire has a power rating of 105 watts and provides over 13000 lumens. Generating only 45.1 tons of CO2 per year our bespoke LED lighting solution is helping Constantia to achieve their goal of a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2023 whilst reducing their energy consumption.
