Project: To increase light levels in the main studio

The Brief -

Located in North West London, LH2 Studios are purpose built studios which offer clients an amazing space suitable for a wide range of productions, events or shows. After enquiring about new lighting for their main studio, one of our sales technicians visited the site to carry out a survey and assess the best solution to meet their requirements.

The main requirement for LH2 Studios was to increase the light levels, additionally they also wanted to save money in electricity and maintenance costs. Conventional lighting fixtures require bulb changes combined with lifting equipment and other maintenance on a yearly basis whereas Low Energy Designs LED lights are maintenance free and can last over 60,000 hours!

The Solution -

The main studio has a ground floor area of 1,668.8sqm (17,693sqft) and a height clearance of 18.1m (60ft) which was lit using 6ft twins at 160w each. The best solution to replace these fittings is the LED LumiMOD 43 which provides a clean white light at 5000 kelvins making colours, movements and objects more easily perceived by the eye.

Power is a major expense in a studio both in operating the lights as well as removing the heat they create. LEDs create little heat, consume much less electricity and have a significantly greater useable life. The LumiMOD 43 runs at180w at full power and produces virtually no heat which will help reduce expenditure on cooling equipment.

Other LED products such as the SunSHINE were used under the mezzanine whilst SmartROD's were used in the storage room.
