Project: To REDUCE MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS AND COSTS

PRODUCTS USED:

The Brief -

Northampton County Lawn Tennis Club wanted to upgrade its court lighting to improve playing conditions while reducing maintenance requirements, energy consumption and operating costs.

The club's existing lighting system consisted of 1kW and 2kW floodlights, which were becoming increasingly expensive to maintain when lamps failed. With such high wattage fittings in place, there was a significant opportunity to reduce both energy costs and carbon emissions by switching to LED technology.

The Solution -

To provide a cost-effective solution, we recommended our Green Box Retrofit system, which fits directly into the club's existing green box housings. By reusing the existing infrastructure, the overall project cost was reduced while still delivering the benefits of a modern LED installation.

The upgrade included a combination of Green Box 10 luminaires operating at 600W and Green Box 8 luminaires operating at 480W. These high-performance LED fittings deliver bright, clear illumination across the courts. A range of specialist lens options was used to direct light precisely where it was needed, creating a uniform light distribution and achieving LTA recommended lighting levels of 500 lux.

As a result of the upgrade, the club is projected to save more than £7,000 per year in energy and maintenance costs. In addition, the new LED lighting system will reduce the club's carbon footprint by over 4.6 tonnes of CO₂ annually, helping Northampton County Lawn Tennis Club lower its environmental impact while providing a better playing experience for members.
