The Brief -
Spelthorne CTC (Community Tennis Centre) wanted to reduce energy use and address the growing difficulty of sourcing replacements for their ageing 1kW green box court lights.
The Solution -
After assessing the existing lighting layout, we proposed our Green Box 10 LED Retrofit with a unique lens configuration to optimise light distribution across the courts. The new system also includes Bluetooth sensors, allowing lighting to be controlled via a mobile app.
Three lighting levels were set to suit different types of play:
500 lux – match play
400 lux – club play
300 lux – training and recreational use.
The upgrade delivered an immediate improvement, increasing lighting levels from 400 to 500 lux (a 25% increase), meeting the standards set by the Lawn Tennis Association.
The new LED system also reduced annual energy consumption by around 11,000 kWh, providing a more efficient, reliable, and future-proof lighting solution for the club.
