Project: To provide a future-proof LED lighting solution in the school gym.

The Brief -

Södertälje municipality wants to continue to be the municipality in the Stockholm region that gives children and young people the best opportunities and conditions for sports during their upbringing. To meet the growing needs, a new hall has now been built at Täljehallen.

To meet the harsh environmental requirements of the newly-built sports facility, we were able to offer an intelligent LED lighting solution that is highly energy efficient but still meets the requirements for lighting power.

The Solution -

In the gym, a combination of our LumiOPTIMA and LumiMOD's were chosen. These luminaires have a large luminous flux of up to 39,200 lumens and an energy efficiency of over 170 lumens per watt.

These products provide multiple benefits for sports applications. They have a micro-prism lens that minimises the glare but provides significantly better light propagation than traditional fluorescent luminaires. This means a very uniform illuminance with marginal shadowing and better visual conditions for athletes. Both types of luminaires are controlled by a combined light and motion sensor via a DALI system. The luminaires were supplied with pre-assembled brackets and connectors for rails to ease the process of installation.

In public spaces, changing rooms, toilets and corridors our Sky PANEL 66 and Glow 165 downlight's were installed. Daylight white variants with up to 5700 Kelvin in colour temperature were chosen to increase visibility throughout the facility. This daylight white light is invigorating and increases the concentration of those who use the premises.

The new sports hall, which is a total of 6,400 square meters and contains 200 meters of running track, sprint courses and space for ball, discus, length, height and spear. In addition to athletes, gymnasts will also be able to train and compete there. The ceiling height is 10 meters for the rhythmic gymnastics to get proper room. The new sports ground will hold the SM class, with, among other things, running tracks of 400 meters and space for all other sports.

The buildings will be Green Building certified. This means that they have an energy consumption that is at least 25% lower than the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's requirements.
