Project: To provide LED lighting for an indoor tennis centre which meets class 1 requirements from the LTA

The Brief -

Wickwoods Country Club decided to embark on a new building project which would provide two new indoor tennis courts. Inside the tennis facility Wickwoods required State-of-the-art lighting that would meet the required lux levels of the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association).

The LTA sets an extremely strict process to adhere to with a very stringent testing process to ensure its standards are met. Most sports lighting levels are divided into classes of play ‘I’ being Top Level Competition, ‘III’ being the lowest. We were asked to provide lighting that would comply with class I and that’s exactly what we did.

The Solution -

Utilising 24x SportsRAY 24 and 8x SportsRAY 18 we were able to provide the club with over 750lux on PPA (Principal Playing Area). Movement sensors were also installed to automatically switch on/ off courts when not in use saving even more power. Both courts are now LTA approved for all classes of play! Since this was a new build there is no comparative data.
