The Brief -
Bishop Aldhelm’s CE Primary School recently embarked on an energy efficiency initiative to modernise its lighting infrastructure. The primary goals were to significantly reduce energy consumption, lower maintenance costs and enhance the quality of lighting across the school.
The school’s previous lighting setup consisted of fluorescent fixtures, both connected and suspended, which had become increasingly inefficient and costly to maintain. With the added pressure from the UK government’s initiative to phase out fluorescent tubes in favour of energy-efficient alternatives, Bishop Aldhelm’s School recognised the need for a more sustainable and future-proof solution.
The Solution -
Low Energy Designs LED lights were selected for their superior energy-saving potential and extended lifespan. These LED fixtures not only provide enhanced illumination at a lower cost but also require less frequent maintenance, aligning well with the school’s objectives of reducing both energy and operational expenses.
Installation Dates: 425 lights were replaced with 373 LED lights. The installation of these LED fittings took place over a five-day period, from 25th to 30th October, during the half term period to minimise disruption to the school.
“Low Energy Designs completed the work within the required time frame. The on-site contractors were polite and ensured they cleaned up after themselves. Any snagging issues that arose were promptly and efficiently resolved without any fuss.”
The upgrade to Low Energy Designs LED lighting solutions has been a success for Bishop Aldhelm’s School. The switch to more energy-efficient lighting has provided significant improvements in both the lighting quality and overall operational efficiency of the school. Key factors such as value for money, excellent customer service, and a comprehensive quote made Low Energy Designs the ideal partner for the project. The result is a more sustainable, cost-effective, and brighter environment for both students and staff. This project highlights the school’s commitment to sustainability and serves as a model for future upgrades in educational environments.
