The Brief -

Tides Tennis Centre (Deal Leisure) upgraded its ageing indoor tennis lighting to improve playing conditions and reduce long term operating costs. The existing 1kW Green Box metal halide floodlights were expensive to run and maintain. By replacing them with a modern LED solution, the centre has significantly reduced energy consumption while enhancing lighting performance.

The Solution -

We supplied and installed our LumiMOD 4 LED lighting system throughout the indoor tennis facility. Operating at just 240W, the fittings replace the existing 1kW luminaires, significantly reducing energy consumption while delivering a brighter, higher-quality playing environment.

To maximise savings, Bluetooth control nodes and two PIR sensors were installed on each court. The lights switch on automatically when motion is detected and dim to 10% output after five minutes of inactivity. Staff can also control individual courts or the entire facility via a touchscreen, with dimming from 0–100%. The system has been pre-set to operate at 75% output for optimum efficiency. For added safety, 11 integrated emergency lighting units were also installed throughout the facility.

The new lighting has increased light levels from 350 lux to 750 lux, creating a brighter, more consistent playing environment while significantly reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs. Combined with intelligent lighting controls and integrated emergency lighting, the upgrade provides a modern, efficient solution that will deliver long-term operational savings.
