Project: To provide an energy efficient, DAL lighting control system.

The Brief -

Padel, the new racket sport, is becoming more and more popular across the UK. We Are Padel recently opened a brand new venue in Derby and required an energy efficient, DALI lighting control system that would provide 750 lux on all courts and give the club the ability to control the lights by a touch screen panel.

The Solution -

The new indoor padel facility houses 11 padel courts. For this project, Low Energy Designs proposed their LumiMOD LED light. Using a combination of lenses allows the light to be directed exactly where is needed, reducing light waste and providing excellent uniformity. For We Are Padel, the uniformity across the courts is 0.79 - shadows are almost nonexistent! With an LED lifetime of over 60,000hrs, the LumiMOD provides high LED efficiency with low lumen depreciation, maximising the overall life of the LED product which will reduce maintenance costs.

The new DALI lighting system will be controlled via a touch screen, located in reception. This will be able to control the following:

1. Switch the lights on or off on across all courts

2. Set on/off times automatically

3. Change to pre-set light levels according to level of play

After installing the LED lights, Low Energy Designs went back to site to commission the lights and make sure all requirements from the club were met. In this case, after finalising the commissioning and getting a big thumbs up from We are Padel, our support engineers were invited onto the court for a game, we won't tell you who won.
