Project: To install an energy-efficient solution to reduce maintenance and operational costs.

The Brief -

Wye Tennis Club in Ashford reached out to us after being impressed by one of our email campaigns, expressing their interest in switching to LED lighting. They were in need of an energy-efficient solution that would reduce maintenance and operational costs. They also required some financial help, so we looked into local grants that would help assist with the upfront costs.

The Solution -

With four outdoor tennis courts illuminated by traditional green box lighting with 2kw Metal Halide bulbs at 8m high. The club was wary of the potential expenses and disruption involved in fitting new tennis court floodlights. However, after carefully considering various lighting designs, we proposed retrofitting our SunSHINE LED lights into the existing green housing, significantly lowering the overall cost of the LED installation.

To address the specific needs of the tennis club, we utilized a combination of lenses, including the FS lens, specifically designed for sports applications. The FS lens allowed us to install the LED lights perpendicular to the ground, delivering significant benefits such as reducing glare, ensuring excellent visual comfort for players, and achieving a consistent and uniform light distribution.

As a result of the LED lighting installation, which took less than 3 days to complete, Wye Tennis Club's requirements were not only met but also aligned with the criteria set by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), providing the club with optimal light levels for their tennis facilities.

Wye Tennis Club used a local energy grant through LoCASE, to help with them the upfront costs of this project.
